Adulting Hacks-Adulting Made Easy

08.03.2022 by Icar //

Adulting is a phase of life, as they say being an adult is weird. It comes with different types of complications and responsibilities. The term has initiated a new trend, mostly used by millennials who find themselves doing “adult things” for the first time. For some they consider adulting as a lifestyle. While a lot of tips, tricks and hacks have surfaced all across social media and feeds, the term can and also apply to anyone who may be struggling with different grown-up responsibilities.

Insurance, Decisions and Choices

Let’s admit, adulting is hard. It hits us when the order of things start to depend on our decisions and choices. And mind you, these choices will matter because it will affect our future in some way or another.  When you say Adulting, number one thing that comes to mind is to consider getting life insurance now, while you’re young(er). Getting those term life insurance quotes when you’re young and in better health means getting a better rate, which means lower premiums.

Be Healthy, Be Happy

Getting healthy and developing some kind of routine for exercise will be beneficial. Try and find time within the day to move, even for just 15minutes a day. Developing a positive relationship with exercise will be fruitful in the long run. Take care of your health while young. Make those doctor’s appointments: do your annual physical, dental cleanings and eye exams.

Stress, stress go away!

Create a “fun” fund. It’s not all serious and hard work, You could use the money to pay for your first vacation on your own. Adulting means having control over your life and finances. You also need to set aside time to declutter and clean your home as this can lower your stress level, this way it’s going to be a win-win for your emotional and  aesthetic side.

Budget Is the Way to Go

Create a budget and save a small amount each paycheck for emergencies. Ideally you should have 3 to 6 months worth of salary saved as cash reserves as a buffer for job changes or other unexpected expenses. Some also recommend a credit card where you put recurring expenses like car insurance payment, rent, subscriptions etc as long as you know you will be able to pay them off at the end of each month. This will help boost your credit score.

Help is On The Way

When in doubt, always and don’t hesitate to ask for help. Research is the key! There’s also an overabundamce of resources available in your friends and family network, not to mention the modern benefits of  technology like YouTube, Google, podcasts and many other more.  All you have to do is do the work

Many people struggle with adulting,. But why stress yourself out? Remember, you don’t have to have it all figured out-cause really we don’t really need to and we actually can’t.  As we grow old, we learn, we never stop growing and so learning is continuous too. We never stop growing and learning, so lean into your adulting and just enjoy the ride.
