Welcome to the Back to School Blast!
Getting your family prepared to head back to school, can be difficult especially after a long, fun-filled summer. Here are a few of our favorite Back to School Tips to help you along the way.
1. Back-to-School Supplies Checklist – Backpack? Check. Pencils? Check. Safety scissors? Not Yet. Use the same checklist each time you head out to grab supplies, to keep track of what you have already purchased and the things you still need to. These are also handy if you have more than one child. Simply print 2, 3, 4 list and add their name to the top.
Here are some Back to School Tips :
- Help your child focus on the positive aspects of starting school, including remembering the good and fun times at school, and seeing old friends and making new friends.
- Find another child in the neighborhood with whom your child can walk to school or ride with on the bus. See How to Safely Travel To and From School.
- Make your child’s favorite breakfast and slip an encouraging note like “Hope you have a great day!” in her lunch bag. (Source : http://www.healthychildren.org/)

You don’t need one so much when your kids are super-tiny, but by the time they’re in school – and this fall, ALL FOUR OF MINE WILL BE IN SCHOOL, HOLY MOLY – Command Centers are pretty much indispensible.

Try to stock up on items you know they’ll use later, when the stores are getting rid of them after school already starts. That way you’ll already have some stuff that you got a great deal on whenever the next “back to school” time comes. I hope that makes sense.

Don’t buy new notebooks every year. You can use your old math notebook for your new math class. It can be helpful to have last year’s notes but you should use every page of a notebook before you buy a new one so you don’t end up with 30 notebooks laying around.

Right before school I have my children try on their warmer fall clothes. I find they always grow so much during the summer. We donate all the clothes that are too small. It makes mornings go smoother if they are not sure what to wear then at least all their clothes in their wardrobes fit.

Take a picture on the first day of school and do it again on the last day. It’s amazing how much they’ve changed in such a short amount of time.

Buying new clothes at the end of the summer may not be as economical as watching for sales during the year and stocking up on the right size and color. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
