Krill Oil : The Next Best Thing

Health is our primary concern. In America, a new government study found that more than almost half of the adult population are taking at least one dietary supplement. This just proves that more than anything, we still value our health and wellness.

Recently, there is an emerging supplement that is said to be similar to the more popular fish oil but is believed to be more effective and potent, Krill Oil.

Krill Oil is made from a species of krill (Euphausia superba). It is found out that two of the most important nutrients in krill oil are: (1) omega-3 fatty acids similar to those of fish oil and (2) Phospholipid-derived fatty acids (PLFA), mainly phosphatidylcholine (alternatively referred to as marine lecithin).

Omega 3 fatty acids or polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) play a crucial role in cognitive brain function and memory. Additionally, it also helps to reduce heart disease, can lower the risk of chronic ailments such as cancer and arthritis, regulates high levels of certain blood fats (triglycerides), cholesterol levels. In some cases, it helps combat premenstrual syndrome (PMS), depression and painful menstrual periods. It keeps skin healthy and clear.krill1

Krill oil is also more efficacious than other sources of Omega 3 and contains Astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant. Unlike other sources, Krill is free of pollutants and toxins like Mercury that can accumulate in sea creatures such as fish and more importantly, it is free of the distinct unpleasant taste of ‘fish burps’ which comes with fish oil based Omega 3 sources.

Some of the key benefits of Krill Oil are :

  • Enhances glucose metabolism in your liver, whereas fish oil does not
  • Promotes lipid metabolism, whereas fish oil does not
  • Helps regulate the mitochondrial respiratory chain, whereas fish oil does not
  • Decreases cholesterol synthesis, whereas fish oil increases it

The benefits and effectiveness of krill oil far outweigh those of fish oil. In addition, Krill is also far more sustainable as a food source than is fish because it’s the largest biomass in the world.

It is good to know that nature has provided us with powerful and effective sources that can supplement our health. Consequently, we should also learn to go back to basics and take care of what’s left of the limited sources we have, you can check out Viva Labs Krill Oil for more information.

I didn’t know so much about Krill, so thanks for the information. I guess I should add these to my daily supplement regimen.
