As if a 7.2 magnitude earthquake last October wasn’t enough, the central region of the Philippines was hit by another disaster, a 295 kph typhoon on November 8, 2013. Supertyphoon Yolanda (International name: Haiyan), one of the most powerful storms ever recorded, smashed the central part of the Philippines and left hundreds of millions of destroyed of properties, death toll at around 4000, and over 650,000 displaced survivors desperate for food and shelter among others.

It was a great show of generosity how countries all over the world sent in help whether in the form of money, relief goods and medical teams. Aside from that, people from all over the globe showed outpouring support by sharing what they have and sharing donations for the superthypoon victims not to mention the silent prayers each one says for the victims.

As bloggers, we thought we could help these people by throwing this huge fundraising giveaway — a way we are all very familiar with. We have already raised $515 from this event and continuing to receive more donations through GoGetFunding.com. There will be a turnover of funds to a legitimate organizations that buys, repacks, and hands out relief goods directly to the victims. You can visit one of the host blogs for updates on the fund transfer in about a week or two.

When my sister passed away years ago, my good friend at the time helped me with making phone calls to funeral homes, making arrangements and bringing food to the house so all the family gathered would remember to eat. She was a lifesaver to me!

Someone helped me when my daughter had a seizure at the clinic. I owe it to the nurses who responded immediately when my daughter needs attention. Also, the motorcycle driver who helped me rush her to the nearest hospital. For me, those people who helped me has been a big part of my child's safety from a more serious complication. Thank God for them.

When my daughter was extremely colic (18-20hrs in every 24hr period, she never sleep) – the receptionist at my work started taking her one evening a week, just to give my husband and I a break – she and her family were the only ones to do so.

Typhoon Yolanda the Category 5 mega-storm is estimated to have destroyed about 70 to 80 percent of structures in its path as it tore into the coastal provinces of Leyte and Samar in the Philippines. The Philippine government has already sent relief goods, rescuers, soldiers, and medical personnel to the affected areas.

My mother flew out from NC to California to help me pack up my house and move.  She then drove across the country with me.  She is 75 years old and I just appreciate her so much for all the unconditional love she showers upon me.

We have been hit by the financial crisis, and my mom has been so good to help us out when needed.  Without her, we would probably have lost all of our possessions.

My mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law threw my husband and me a party to celebrate our wedding because they knew we didn't have a lot of money to spend on one for ourselves.  It was a beautiful gesture!
