Do you need air conditioner at home?

So this is the question : Do you need air conditioner at home? Here in San Jose, the weather has been hot for the past days averaging around 77 degrees and still getting hotter. I was able to tell the difference because I sweat now with just a little movement, and also my daughter who has grown thicker hair always look like she just came from work out, drenched with sweat.

Most homes in warm climates usually install air conditioning units. For some, air conditioning may be a luxury, but for many, it is a necessity most especially if you have allergies or low resistance to heat.

Most air conditioners maintain  suitable humidity in a room. In other cases, it also frees the air from  excessive humidity or efficiently cool room air during certain seasons. During the hot season, it supplies a constant and adequate supply of ventilation or heat (or help heat) the rooms in winter. We also know that air contains a lot of unseen particles, air conditioners efficiently remove from the air micro-organisms, dust particles, soot, and other foreign bodies.

Okay, now you have answered the question and indeed you need an air conditioner. There are a lot of brands like LG and many others to choose from an in fact you can also check in here for more options. But the real score is how you can still save energy and money while having it at home.  You might also find out what having such appliances at home will be all about. There are a few tips shared :

  • You can save energy by increasing insulation levels or using shading windows and making a room leakage free may reduce energy spent on heating and cooling
  • Shut off unneeded electrical appliances, lights and equipment. Shift appliance use (such as washers and dryers) to cooler times of the day.
  • Use local exhaust fans to remove heat and humidity from kitchens and baths.

With these information you may base the decision if you want to buy air conditioner at home. There are actually other ways that we can save even if with the use of air conditioners, do you have any tips? You can share them all here.

Ok, sharing…window film…reflects heat in the summer, keeps house cooler.
I buy this product called great stuff, ($6 a can ) ( DO NOT USE NEAR OPEN FLAMES LIKE KITCHEN BOILER ROOM ETC ) use it between cracks floor to wall or around piping holes loke gas heat pipe holes on outer walla, lowered my bill 50% in winter. Messy to use, wear rubber gloves, it expends so use sparingly! Have paper towel rolls handy too. Doesnt wash off so wear something disposable too. My heat went from $280 down to $100-$120 a month. The window film is pricey but pays off in the long run reducing energy consumption for AC. Also provides light but filtered privacy.
