After what seemed like a never-ending winter for some parts of the country, more than three-quarters of Americans are planning to take a summer vacation. Now that summer is approaching, I know that most of us are planning our long-awaited getaways. Some people are really looking forward for this time of the year to take a break from work and spend time with the whole family.
According to a recent Orbitz survey, 77% of Americans are taking a vacation this season, with nearly half traveling with the entire family and 33% traveling with a significant other. It was found out that beach locales as travelers’ top destination this summer with the top three locations including, Orlando, Las Vegas and Cancun, Mexico.
It can be concluded that prices are more affordable now as the economy has somewhat rebounded, that is why families are planning to take trips this year. Airlines, hotels, and campgrounds are commanding higher rates and seeing more customers than a few summers ago, and luxury hotels are selling out.
Where’s the next best place for us to stay during these vacations? Hotels, right?! But did it ever cross your minds to check the hotel rooms you are staying in, especially the bed for bed bugs?
We may not have ever given special attention but these bed bugs may make or break our summer fun. Please read on the infographic below to be informed and make the necessary action the next time you stay in a hotel. If you do come across bed bugs in a hotel or any other pests that may affect your hotel stay, you need to get in touch with the hotel management immediately and vacate your room. Always check before you unpack anything in case of contamination of your clothes/bags. Depending on where you stay they will call the relevant professionals, like these Raleigh pest control experts if you are in North Carolina. It will depend on the surroundings and who is nearest.

— This just happened yesterday morning around 4:30 am on April 10th 2012 while staying at the Split Rock Resort and Golf Club in Lake Harmony, PA. My husband woke me and said he got bitten by a bug & showed me the tissue. His eyes started swelling up. Took some pics & video of the tissue with the bug to the front desk and all they did was sent security to ask questions and said it’s the first time they have had an issue with bed bugs & implied that somehow it was just brought to them from guests.
