It’s finally March! How time flies, the past two months of 2012 had been good to me and my family. Despite some mishaps, I can still say that we’re quite fortunate with all the blessings we receive daily. First and foremost is the gift of life that the good Lord continuously grace us with everyday and next is the gift of good health and safety which is more than enough to be thankful for.
Just want to share a long due (again) post, which is a very memorable experience for me.
To welcome 2012 (January 1st), we participated in San Pablo City’s First Lantern Festival which was held in SM City San Pablo’s Car Park. My enthusiasm to join the event is because I wanted to start as they say the year right and aside from that since this is the city’s first, I wanted (and Ceana too) to be part of history. An older cousin’s friend was the event organizer’s mom, and she was the one who sold me the ticket which is Php 150. The amount included a paper lantern and some brown paper-where we wrote our wishes.

We came to the venue at 5PM, but apparently the actual lighting of the lanterns was scheduled at 8PM. We didn’t get bored as there were some performers which included fire dancers, stand up comedians and singers and bands who kept the crowd occupied while waiting for time.

At around 7:30, the event organizers had some words and actually gave instructions on the lighting and the setting of the lanterns. We were asked to light our lanterns at the same time then let them float simultaneously at 8PM. One cannot do it alone and will need one or two more to set up and light the lantern, which is also quite symbolic-You can’t do everything on your own.
setting up our lantern and sticking the brown paper full of wishes, I have used 2 papers just for the wishes! and we’re getting ready to let it go |

As our lantern drifted up I kissed Ceana while saying a silent prayer. The best word to describe the experience : SURREAL.adj. Having an oddly dreamlike quality; resembling a dream; characterized by fantastic imagery and incongruous juxtapositions (source : www.thefreedictionary.com). I cannot describe what I felt that time as I saw the sky got filled with lanterns of different colors. Many said that the scene was just like one in Tanlged, unfortunately I was not able to see the film that’s why I cannot attest to it. The scene was just spectacular. I know that my daughter felt the same way as she gazed up the now brightly-lit up sky.
