Careers That Are Perfect For Busy Parents

01.11.2019 by Icar //

It can be hard to find a career that makes you happy as a busy parent. Often, parents (particularly single parents) have to simply take any paying job that gives them time to spend with their family as well as the money necessary to provide for their family. But it’s possible to have a proper career as a parent, whether you’re bringing up your children with the help of a partner or not. These are some careers that are perfect for busy parents.

Nursing.

This is a career that will be satisfying for anybody with a desire to help others, but it’s not just a perfect career because it suits a caring personality; it’s a perfect career because it offers flexibility. Hospitals are always running, and that means members of staff end up working shifts at all manner of hours. As a nurse, you’d have the opportunity to work the hours that suited you (to an extent, as with any job). It would allow you to spend time with your children in the evening if you did an early morning shift, for example. It’s also a well-paid career with plenty of room for progression. You might want to look into a bs healthcare administration online course. This would give you skills and qualifications that would prepare you for many kinds of work in different medical fields. A career in nursing or anything healthcare-related might be perfect for your busy lifestyle.

Teaching.

Another great career opportunity for busy parents is teaching. You could consider becoming an assistant if you wanted part-time work, but even a job as a full-time teacher can work well into your schedule. After all, you might have to mark books and plan lessons after school, but you could head home at the same time as your children. It’d allow you to spend more time with your kids. Your hours would be the same as your children’s “hours”, in a sense. Plus, you’d get time off at holidays, so that’d allow you more quality time with your family too. As long as you do the training necessary and find a subject that suits your academic ability, this could be a very rewarding career for you.

Dietetics.

A career in dietetics involves advising people as to the food they should eat in their diets. The goals might differ from person to person, but your goal would generally be to help clients follow a permanent diet to achieve a healthier lifestyle. You wouldn’t be promoting fad diets; in order to be a dietitian, you need to be trained and educated to offer professional advice. After all, it’s essentially a medical profession. It’s a flexible career whether you take the employed or self-employed route. Most dietitian roles are in healthcare or school environments (as we’ve already discussed, there’s a lot of flexibility in those areas). Obviously, if you’re self-employed then you’ll have total control over your own hours. However, you will have the added pressure of running your own business and will have to know about things like how to register for self assessment. Given that parents are always nagging their kids about healthy eating, studying to become a dietitian would give you the professional knowledge necessary to be an authority figure on the matter.
