Next season’s fashion lines are just being launched now, so what better time than to prepare your closets for your next shopping spree? Space is hard to come by if you are a big fan of fashion and accessories. You might have to make some tough decisions and have a bit of a clearout. So what’s first?
Get Started
Start by pulling out all the clothes you haven’t really worn for the last year or so. It really is time to say goodbye to this stuff. There might be a few items in there that are starting to look a little worn or simply fail to flatter your figure anymore. Don’t hold onto things you think you might fit into if you diet or exercise more. Surely if you tone up, you’ll want to celebrate by buying something fresh and new?
Spacey
Now you’ve made a little space, you have two choices. You can either vacuum pack those items and store them in the loft. Or you could gift them to a charity collection. Of course, if you have time, you might choose to sell them, especially if they were expensive. The funds could go toward your next shopping spree.
Next on your list is organizing the closet space. Now you can see what is left, you can tell what else you need to buy. It should be easy to gauge how many hanging rails and shoe racks you need. Don’t forget to plan for some sneaker storage, especially if you are serious about keeping up the exercise program! Position it so it is near the rest of your workout clothes. Keeping things together makes it easier to put things away and find them easily.
Order
If you hang your clothing in order of length, you’ll have an end that offers space underneath the rail because the shorter clothes like blouses won’t be in the way. However, it might be easier for you to organize your closet by outfit type. Work-wear on one side and smart-casual on the other? Blouses on the left and skirts on the right? Don’t overcrowd your rails. Not only could the weight become excessive, but the clothes will be crumpled. You won’t be able to see your clothing clearly either.
Do you keep items like accessories in your closet or wardrobe too? Use hanging or stacking tidies and organizers to keep things safe. This will make it much easier to reach them too. You can layer these by length or color. Perhaps you’ll use one drawer for your favorite workplace accessories, and another for more special occasions? Larger drawers for your undergarments can be placed inside your closets too. This keeps everything together. Add a couple of long dressing mirrors on the inside the closet doors. Perfect.
You might also choose to install a couple of LED lights inside the closet. These can be battery powered and affixed with a sticky pad in the best spot to illuminate your shelves. Some are movement sensitive, so they’ll only come on when they sense the doors opening. How do you organize your closet space?
