We regularly do story reading for my daughter before she goes to sleep. As much as I would like to read her fairy tales and other famous children’s stories, I also make it a point to read her Bible stories so as to reinforce what she is being taught every week in Sunday School.
One time, I reprimanded her for something that she did and I ran out of reason to her unending why’s, I just told her “Jesus will not like it” and she replied ” No, Mommy, Jesus loves me!”. This instance, for me is a manifestation of faith at her young age, of her belief of God, His presence and His love.
I got the chance to get hold of the children’s book, A Love Letter from God. This book authored by P.K. Hallinan is all about a letter that God could have written for a young child.
I love you, My Child
and I want you to know
I’ll lead you and feed you
wherever you go.
The 22-page book contains verses of positive and loving messages that parents and our parent in heaven wishes to impart to their/His children.
My initial impression is that it resembles a well-written greeting card that has great messages for little ones. The words used were simple and lyrical yet meaningful that even young kids will be able to understand.
The book reminds children of God’s eternal love and His presence everyday. As a parent, I know that it is sometimes difficult to convey our message to our children (Admit it or not, kids and parents speak different languages plus age gap that makes communication off tracked). Not with this book.
A Love Letter from God relays how God demonstrates His presence , His love through everyday miracles-friends, family, things around us,happenings and events in a way that a young mind can easily comprehend.
I’ll steer you to meadows
that cover the land
I’ll send you some friends to brighten your days…
with riddles and giggles and games you can play
Thumbs up for the book’s illustrator, Laura Watson for bringing to life rich, textured and colorful images that matches the story being told. For my daughter who cannot read yet, her attention was first captured not by the message nor the words but by the compelling illustrations she saw when she first scanned the book’s pages.
I love you, My Child,
so I’ll reach out my hand
and send you My blessings,
so you’ll understand.
Her curiosity was piqued upon seeing some familiar and interesting drawings that she can relate to. Aside from the clear positive statements, children will also learn how to appreciate their individuality and how to use their unique gifts to be a blessing to others.
As a parent, reading this book is also inspiring for me, which serves as an everyday reminder of God’s love-unconditional and unlimited.
I love you, My Child,
so hear what I say:
Nothing can pry Me
or drive me away
Your future’s as brilliant
as the sun and the sea…
and I’ll LOVE YOU FOREVER, through all eternity.

I want my grandchildren to grow up knowing that God loves them and will show them this daily by what He gives to them or keeps from them. I think owning A Love Letter from God would be an excellent tool to make that happen.

Ever since my children were toddlers, I would read them stories about Jesus and take them to church every week. My children are now grown and the grandchildren have just begun. I would love to have this book of beautifully spoken words from Jesus to share with the newest family members, and to teach them about the wonderful, merciful, unwavering love of Jesus.
