Great Mall is excited to celebrate the important Chinese cultural, economic and artistic contributions to the bay area by imparting good fortune, happiness, wealth and longevity through our Lunar New Year. Visitors are invited to enjoy an enhanced day of shopping, dining and entertainment while they take part in some colorful and lively special family events.
Shoppers can revel in the spirit of the holiday with a variety of giveaways, a special Simon Kidgits Club program and live Chinese themed entertainment including lion dancers, martial arts demonstrations and percussionists.
Great Mall’s Goodwill Ambassadors will be distributing special fortune cookies to the first 2,500 guests beginning at 11 a.m. Shoppers will have the opportunity to win one of 25 $50 Simon Gift cards® and can pick-up a special brochure highlighting specials offers and promotions for the Lunar New Year.
Spreading Wealth in the Community
In addition to imparting good wishes to shoppers, Great Mall is encouraging guests to support educational and cultural initiatives in the community. Shoppers may make a donation to purchase a Lunar New Year duck for $3 with all proceeds benefiting the Simon Youth Foundation (SYF), a national nonprofit organization that helps at-risk students stay in school. Through 23 Simon Youth Academies in 13 states and Simon Youth Scholarships, SYF advocates, creates and initiates educational opportunities for students. In partnership with local public schools, SYF has maintained a 90% graduation rate at its Academies since inception, commenced more than 11,000 students, and awarded more than $11 million in scholarships. The Chinese American Association of Silicon Valley and the Chinese School of Milpitas will also be onsite with information regarding their contributions and community initiatives.
