It really feels good once in a while to do (again) things that you have enjoyed doing before. I love watching movies, an interest which my husband and I share. During the Holiday Season, as we waited for Christmas to come (and some nights for the man of the house to come home from extended work hours) my daughter and I have tried to beat the cold by cuddling while watching our favorite Disney movies.
One of my daughter’s favorite is The Little Mermaid, which surprisingly already celebrated its 25th anniversary release. Who wouldn’t remember familiar songs such as “Part of Your World”, “Under the Sea”, “Kiss the Girl” as part of its soundtrack? For me who is part of that generation who grew up hearing these songs, it brings back old memories-of childhood and nice things.
Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection, a line that celebrates the anniversaries of Disney’s most cherished and classic films that have been enchanting audiences for generations released a collectible that will stand the test of time but will recollect memories.
The label honors one of the most beloved soundtracks of all time with the 25th anniversary release of Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection: The Little Mermaid.
The Legacy Collection : The Little Mermaid , is a 2-disc collection that features the songs and score from the film by Oscar®-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman (Disc One) and 12 work tapes and song demos performed by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman (Disc Two).
Honestly, I have never paid attention to musical scores before and this is what I discovered in Disc One. Much of the “feeling” we get from movies are coming from the music we sometimes neglect (and which sometimes don’t get much attention) since we tend to focus more on the “songs with lyrics” which I enjoyed in Disc2. Nevertheless, I did enjoy both CD’s and consider The Legacy Collection : The Little Mermaid to be a classic.
One more things, I just wanted to share that I fancy the CD cover (first photo above) which has a nice newly created artwork inspired by “The Little Mermaid” done by Lorelay Bove, a visual development artist at Walt Disney Animation Studios.
“The Legacy Collection reorganizes the material and allows the listener to be able to draw more out of it and enjoy it on another level. Technology has improved over the decades and going back to the masters results in better representations of the material on these CDs.”
The 20-page CD booklet also includes liner notes plus a sampling of visual development art from the film not to mention the songs with the lyrics(yay!).

It will forever and ever be “Part of your world”. I learned in both English and Spanish when it came out in 1990 in my hometown.
