World Humanitarian Day falls on 19 August, the day in 2003 when 22 aid workers were killed in a bombing at the UN headquarters in Baghdad. It's a day to commemorate all people who have lost their lives in humanitarian service and to celebrate the spirit that inspires humanitarian work around the world.
World Humanitarian Day is August 19th. Help us celebrate the many #HumanitarianHeroes out there, bringing aid to millions of people who are in crisis. Sign up. Take action. Become a Messenger of Humanity: http://messengersofhumanity.org/
What is a Messenger of Humanity?
As a Messenger of Humanity, you’ll be a member of an engaged online group of people who are motivated to take action in the name of humanity. We are asking you to join the world’s humanitarian organizations such as the United Nations as a global advocate. Join the movement, take action and make a difference to the world we live in.
Messenger of Humanity is a platform to amplify and unite a generation’s call for a better world. It’s a place for you to learn and act, and be part of a global community that stands up for humanity.
As part of the Messenger of Humanity community you will receive the latest advocacy campaigns from humanitarian organizations working with their call to action that you can share on your social networks and amplify the message.
The first day of action will be 19 August: World Humanitarian Day. This is a day to celebrate humanitarians around the world. In an effort to build a global sense of momentum, we will call on our Messengers of Humanity to take an important social action on this day.
We aim to build momentum around that important date, so be sure to stay tuned for updates on how you can help celebrate and support the good work of #humanitarianheroes far and wide.
