The Benefits of Water #HydrationMovement

08.17.2013 by Icar //

Thanks to Nestlé® Pure Life® Purified Water for sponsoring today’s discussion.

Water is the one common thing that almost all living things need to survive. Without water, our body would stop working properly. Water makes up more than half of our body weight and a person can’t survive for more than a few days without it and this is the importance of hydration.

Mom’s Wisdom

My daughter just had the colds that resulted to cough last week. It may have been the result of the erratic weather here in San Jose for the past few days. And just like what my mom has imparted to me in the past, the only cure to these symptoms is keeping kids hydrated-drinking lots of water! And so I have pushed Ceana to drink her water as frequent as possible, added it with some tender loving care and true enough she became well after only three days…

We are still expecting heatwave spells in the coming days and so we need to apply healthy family hydration. We can help our body by drinking extra water when it’s warm out. Our body when hydrated will be able to do all of its wonderful functions resulting to better health.

Here are some basic hydration tips for the whole family to increase your fluid intake and reap the benefits of water:

  • Keep a bottle of water with you in your car, at your desk, or in your bag.
  • Have a beverage with every snack and meal.
  • Choose beverages you enjoy; you’re likely to drink more liquids if you like the way they taste.
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables. Their high water content will add to your hydration. About 20% of our fluid intake comes from foods.
  • Choose beverages that meet your individual needs. If you’re watching calories, go for non-caloric beverages or water.

If my family drank any more water, we’d all probably float away, but I think it’s a great movement!

I really believe that water is the best thing to hydrate you also! Such an important thing to remember instead of pop and some other stuff.

My friend chills water with cucumber slices in it and swears that it has made her daughter drink lots more water!

I have to get rid of the other stuff… then drinking it is a breeze. If there was pop in the house, I’d drink it 🙂

I think that the key to drinkig lots of water is to find a great-tasting water. All water is not equal!
