Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is an American circus company billed as The Greatest Show on Earth. The company was started in 1919 when the circus created by James Anthony Bailey and P. T. Barnum was merged with the Ringling Brothers Circus. The Ringling brothers purchased the Barnum & Bailey Circus in 1907, but ran the circuses separately until they were finally merged in 1919.
I have never ever been to a live circus before. I have just enjoyed a circus’s fascinating stunts and wonderful parade of costumes in the boob tube, that’s why the idea of watching a live circus performance gave me great excitement. I am happy and excited, (note : I can’t help but use the word “excitement/excited” in this post for a valid reason) for my daughter though who is going to experience it for the first time, same as with my husband who is also a circus newbie.
We were given opening night tickets. There was a pre-show which is an animal open house. which opened 90 minutes before show time, this came in free with every ticket purchased.
The Animal Open House provided an exclusive opportunity for the audience to see the World Famous Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Asian Elephants and other members of their animal family up-close. (shown in photo below)
The show in its 143rd edition opened with a colorful parade of all the cast members including the Asian elephants in colorful and shimmering costumes.
Circus performers from across the globe create the perfect blend of athleticism and bravery, where power meets fearlessness and amazement has no bounds. Magnificent elephants, ferocious tigers, astonishing acrobats and awe-inspiring aerialists are engineered into one spectacular performance.
The circus showcased non-stop action, thrill, excitement, anticipation all through out the 2 hour show. Magnificent elephants, ferocious tigers, astonishing acrobats and awe-inspiring aerialists are engineered into one spectacular performance. I was stunned with all the stunts performed and the show of artistry, agility, skill and talent that not only the people cast exhibited but more importantly of the animals involved. You can just wonder for the time and skills exerted in the training of the cast and animals for this show. You can view the show’s rundowm in this video…
The whole show was heart-stopping, there are some parts where I can’t help but cover my eyes or scream with suspense. As is said in the beginning, this show is a “perfect mix of marvel and majesty in an imagination equation where the impossible comes to life”.
Here are some of my favorites :
Trampoline Tower Tumblers, which made jumping on the trampoline look easy as eating peanut, and to add to that doing it synchronized.
Stars of the Steel Vortex-This part is where I started screaming! Can you imagine, walking inside a steel vortex with nothing to support you, the performers, added thrill by jumping up and down while on top of the vortex.
And lastly, these two videos are a-w-e-s-o-m-e! First is the Danguir Truope, for their jaw dropping performance on high wire :
Surprise and wonder and a lot of other adjectives are not enough for me to describe Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents Built To Amaze! experience. As the show ended, I felt like craving up for more action while I know that I had enough.
We (my husband and I) went home with big smile on our faces, and for a first timer like me, it was definitely, one good and memorable experience, and can I add spectacular! I was amazed, and so it is true, that the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is really Built to Amaze!
