TV the way its meant to be

04.30.2013 by Icar //

The way we watch television is changing. Busy families cannot gather around the television at a scheduled hour to watch a television program on a weekly basis. Between family obligations and work commitments many of us are lucky if we get to watch any television at all. Thankfully, there are new and innovative ways we can watch our favourite television programs-for example you can watch TV on demand or stream it from a television station website. The following are some reasons why you should try it out.

It is convenient: You are no longer bound by the network schedule. Once, if your show was on at a time you were not able to watch it, you have to ask a friend or family member to record it, or even forfeit watching that show all together. Today, if you watch TV on demand, or use stream online you can watch your show at any time that is convenient for you. In this day in age, you’re even able to access shows and films that you might not be able to due to your location, this can be done for many streaming sites that put geographic restrictions on some titles. Many people do this by looking at using something similar to this TPB proxy as an example. Doing so will allow you and your family to have a much wider selection of entertainment wherever and whenever.

You can watch on multiple devices: As great as your living room couch is, it is not always the most ideal place to watch your favourite television programs. Many people like watching television on their computer, such as a laptop or on a smart phone which you can carry with you anywhere in the house. It sure helps pass the time when you are doing mundane tasks such as folding the laundry, or sitting on the bus.

You can pause and return to the show: In the past if you have to leave the room when your show was on you would miss out on plotlines. If you were lucky a family member would fill you in on what happened. However most of the time you were trying to play catch up on the show. With streaming services, you have the ability to pause your television show, answer that ringing phone call from your mother, and return to your show once you are done.

You can discover more television: One of the greatest things about streaming services is that you can watch several show episodes at one time. Sometimes you have to watch several episodes of a TV show to decide if you like it or not, and that used to be a few week long commitment, but not anymore. Now you can have mini marathons of your favourite shows, and try out some others ones that you have heard about, but never seen.

    Times have definitely changed.
I am not just catching up on The Voice from free tv from our local cable program. They save them for a certain time on demand.

I LOVE doing mini marathons! In fact, I was just telling my husband that I would rather just let a few episodes of Mad Men pile up so I can watch them back to back. I can’t handle the suspense! It really is funny how different it is from just a few years ago.

We cancelled our cable and use Netflix to save money. Haven’t looked back.

My step-daughter only does Netflix – no cable or dish. We use our PVR to death, hardly ever watching live TV except for the news.
