My Charmed Mom

Live & Thrive

Time for New…

01.25.2013 by Icar //

Now that I am really in the business of being a homemaker (homemaker – a wife who manages a household while her husband earns the family income, source: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/homemaker),which is a duty/job I am actually excited about I've got some immediate concerns in our home specifically our room.

My husband admittedly said that he had been using the set of pillows he has (and we're  currently using) now for more than ten years. He said that he acquired those four pillows when he first arrived here in America in 2000. Imagine?! And those pillows have actually survived 2 moves before finally settling in the house where we live now. One thing about me, I love matching things especially at home. I always make a point to have if not matching, either complementing bed sheets, pillow cases and blankets. Aside from aesthetic reasons, I am more concerned with health. I don't know if these pillows have been cleaned in the past and if it were in the first place even washed. I've had all horrid thoughts to the point that I didn't even take pictures of the "old" pillows.  And so at the start of our journey together as family, this has been my Project #1.

We went to Target to buy some stuff for Ceana since she received a $50 Target Gift Card during her birthday. While looking for things to buy, I saw these hypoallergenic fluffy pillows on sale. Originally at $7.24 it was marked down to $6/piece, seeing its quality, I have considered it a good deal and went for it. We bought two pieces of medium firm and extra firm.

And of course what comes after the pillow, are the pillowcases, which are also on sale from $9.99/set of two and we bought it for $2.00 off. I love the color combination in gray and green and also the design which is not too girly.

And the result : New and Fluffy pillows, pleasing to the eyes and safe for our daughter.  SAM_1134

Remember that this is just the first project and I still have several on the works. Included on my list is a new comforter, curtains for the windows to replace the blinds and a new matching rug recommended by a rug cleaner in brooklyn and so much more. I know that this is just the start and hopefully before midyear, my project clean up will also be halfway done.
