One destination that may be on your bucket list is Flagstaff, AZ. You may know a little bit about it but aren’t sure about what to do and make time for once you arrive. It’s not only a beautiful place to visit but there’s also a lot to do and see during your stay.

The following planning tips will help ensure a fun and successful trip to Flagstaff. You want to make sure that you’re making the most of your days and getting all there is to experience when visiting this wonderful area. Get your sleep before you depart because once you arrive there will be so much to do that you won’t know where to start.

Secure the Right Accommodations

It’s all about what type of trip you want to create and have when you visit Flagstaff. You can stay inland or there are places in the woods that are more secluded if you want peace and quiet and privacy. Also, don’t be afraid to bring along your dog on your trip because it’s a dog-friendly zone and place to visit. You should take the time to check out the pet friendly cabins in Flagstaff and all they have to offer if you plan to bring your furry friend with you and enjoy this type of environment and accommodations.

Be Prepared to Hike

Arizona is filled with rolling mountains and has plenty of trails to check out and enjoy. If you’re planning a trip to Flagstaff then you should be prepared to hike and get some exercise. If you travel when the weather is pleasant instead of too hot during the summer, you can spend a lot of time outdoors and in nature. Bring along your hiking clothes and good shoes that will keep your feet comfortable for an extended period. Read up on tips for hiking beginners and make sure you bring along plenty of water to stay hydrated. You may even want to consider camping with your kids overnight if you want to extend your hike.

Add the Grand Canyon to Your Itinerary

Another planning tip for a trip to Flagstaff is to add the Grand Canyon to your itinerary. Flagstaff is the gateway to this place that simply can’t be described in words it’s so amazing and stunning. You can plan to take a day trip to this geological wonder because it’s so close and convenient. Be sure to bring along your camera because there will be plenty of images you’ll want to capture and remember forever. You can plan your own itinerary or plan a tour and get the full experience.

Take A Scenic Drive

You may also want to make time to rent and hop in the car and take a scenic drive. The landscape is quite spectacular in Flagstaff and the surrounding areas. You can get around quicker and see more in less time when you drive. There’s a lot of history to experience in the area and you’ll want plenty of time to get from one place to the next. You can tour some of the ancient treasures, discover the old west, or have a high country adventure while you’re visiting Flagstaff and the surrounding area.

Relax & Enjoy

What’s most important is that you relax and enjoy yourself on your trip to Flagstaff. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and things to do right in the downtown area. Arizona is known for its restaurants and good food so take advantage by visiting as many places as possible. It may help to do your research before you arrive and make reservations so you’re sure to get a table. Be prepared to spend some money on the unique shops and handmade items such as jewelry and artwork.

Built along the railroad track (and what would later become Route 66) the Historic Downtown and Railroad District is a pedestrian-friendly area filled with historic 1900s-era buildings that have been converted to shops, restaurants, galleries, breweries, and other watering holes. There are also regular events to enjoy in the district such as farmers markets, a monthly art walk, and movie nights.

Conclusion

These are a few useful planning tips to help you prepare for your trip to Flagstaff, AZ. You’re sure to have a wonderful time when you follow through on these suggestions and pack the right type of clothing and gear for your getaway. There’s so much to see and do that you may want to map out a rough itinerary for each day before you depart so you don’t waste any time planning once you arrive in Flagstaff.
