4 Strategies That Will Help You Enjoy Christmas

11.14.2017 by Icar // Leave a Comment

Uh oh, it’s coming up to Christmas, and you know that what means don’t you? That’s right lots of spending money, socializing, buying gifts and some super excited kids. While many of these things can be really fun, they can also be a little grating on the nerves from time to time too. That is why it’s always in your best interest to get as ahead with your Christmas planning as possible. To do this follow the four strategies below, and you too could actually have a Christmas that you enjoy this year, rather than one that is exhausting.

Strategy 1: Christmas corner

The first strategy is to get what is known as a Christmas corner built up, way before the festive period starts. A Christmas corner is a store of food and drink items for the festivities that you can build piece by piece. That means you go shopping in November and December and buy one or two bits along with your normal shop. Then you save yourself the stress and expenses of a huge Christmas shop just before the big day.

Strategy 2: Family games

While we moms often can’t wait to get the family altogether during the festive season, their reactions can sometimes be a little disappointing. Especially if you have bored or moody kids that just want to sit with their headphones on!

Get around this problem by setting a tradition of playing family games at festive celebrations. The sillier, the better. Just a minute suggestions like the ones at https://www.thechaosandtheclutter.com/archives/family-fun-night-minute-to-win-it are great, as no one can keep a straight face when playing. Although more traditional board games like the one suggested at https://www.thespruce.com/best-family-board-games-4151145 can work just as well to bring the family together.

Strategy 3: Get organized

It sounds simple but with Christmas becoming more and more complicated and expensive each year getting on top of the festival organization can be anything but easy. To help it is useful to split it into three categories. Before, during, and after Christmas.

Before Christmas organization is all about booking in social events, buying gifts, and getting wrapping paper. During Christmas organization is about keeping on top of the housework and tidying up after each celebration. After Christmas organization is more concerned with heading to the sales for next year’s festive bargains, as well as sending out cards like the ones you can find at https://www.giftsin24.com/Personalized-Thank-You-Notes/1 to express your gratitude for the gifts you and your family have received.

Don’t forget either that you will need extra tape for wrapping and batteries! Even if you haven’t bought the kids games that will need them, you can guarantee that someone will!

Strategy 4: Elf on the shelf

Use an elf on a shelf to encourage the kid’s positive behavior.

For parents, a huge part of Christmas is seeing the kids excited about what Santa will bring them. Unfortunately, excitement often runs over into becoming overwrought, and this can lead to challenging and bad behavior.

With this in mind, why not use the Elf of a Shelf trend, described in detail at https://www.elfontheshelf.com/blog/elf-on-the-shelf that is so popular right now? The idea is that you place the Elf where he can see the kids behavior and report back to Santa if they aren’t doing what they are told. Something that can definitely help to keep them mindful of how to act, no matter how excited they get.
