I always have a great Fourth of July celebration with my family. We have had a tradition ever since I have been alive with the same people, and it is just a fun time to spend together! This year we are having a surprise birthday party for my dad!

I have a childhood horrible memory of a tornado coming through while at a friends house swimming 4th July party with my parents. I must have been around 10 years old and I remember running downstairs in their house and trying to find a place to hide.

This year just a quiet holiday. Our town always has events and fireworks that go from morning to night. So after a family Barbeque it's off to the Parks.

I remember a 4th when my mom had told my dad to stop being so over protective so this fourth we hadn't sprayed down the weeds around are 1.5 acres property that year. Her reasoning was we never had, had any problems with fire before. We hadn't even come close to having a real fire. Well we all learned the wisdom of my father that year. We caught the fence between our house and one of our neighbors on fire. We were able to put it out because we still had a garden hose primed and ready in case of a fire. Well then we had a second fire this one was cause by a neighbors dud shell that exploded on the ground between the house and the garage and the house we had to use the hose and multiple fire extinguisers. Then I looked up and the Mountain near our home was on fire. We called 911 and were one of the first report that fire. This was a very big deal because the mountain is covered in sage brush and oil shale rock. If the fire got to hot the fire would become impossible to put out., and with the sage brush every acre that was burned would have to be dug up and turned to put out the hot spots because sage brush can hold a hot ember it its extensive root system for almost 100 years .

Unfortunately, my unforgettable 4th of July memory is not a happy one! I hadn't been feeling well, but went to an outdoor event w/my boyfriend as he'd already purchased tickets. It started raining really hard and we got soaking wet on the walk back to the car. When I got home, I found that the power was off! And I wound up with bronchitis.

This year we celebrated 4th of July early with our church. It was AWESOME! Our pastor, Ed Young, did a guest interview with Chris Kyle in honor of the 4th. Chris Kyle is a Navy Seal sniper who is credited with more confirmed kills than ANY OTHER sniper in the history of our great military. After the interview the church had an awesome little festival with food and games for the children, and they even did their own firework show! It was awesome! On the 4th we actually went to watch the local firework show at UNT – Denton, TX… but it was slow going and not near as capturing as the show done by FellowshipChurch.com – Grapevine. :)
